About Us

Crystal and I are from the United States originally, although there's a little more to the story than that.

Crystal grew up traveling, having been born in Germany and living in England as a child.

I was born in Maryland but spent most of my youth and young adulthood in Virginia.

Crystal and I both hold real estate licenses and Crystal is still active (sort of) as an agent. Me, not so much. I got my license to help Crystal out when business was hot and she needed someone to take appointments to keep things rolling. I am a teacher by profession. I've taught history and computers and currently teach both at the American School of Doha.

We have developed a love for International travel through our various life experiences and hope to continue our adventures for years to come.

Hello and welcome.

I am a teacher at the American School of Doha in the State of Qatar, which is located on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. My wife and I live about a mile and a half from Doha's Corniche which surrounds Doha Harbor. We have been here since August of 2008.

I try to keep information somewhat current here, but to know what's really going on visit my Facebook page. If you know me and you're on Facebook, send the request and I'll add you as a friend.

This is the first time in our married life that we've lived abroad. Crystal lived overseas as a child and we've done some traveling, but I've never lived for any extended period of time outside of the United States. We are having a great time, and have found Qatar to be a bit different than the stereotypical "Arab state" as we know it in the west. Yes it's hot. Yes the locals wear traditional attire. No the streets are not covered in wicker baskets full of dates and dried fruit. No we have not been accosted by anyone because we are Americans. If anything the parents of Qatari students at ASD have been complimentary of the American education system and the opportunities that their children will have from our presence here.

Is it different living in an Islamic state? Of course it is. That doesn't mean it's not fun or that it is a primitive society. We have many of the luxuries of the West here. Qataris like the finer things too.

Anyway, hopefully you'll find this site to be worth visiting periodically. If you have comments or questions you can email me through the contact tab at the top of the page or you and I can hook up on Facebook.

Cheers.
